Expansion to Chilliwack. Independent Lifestyles will be accepting clients in Chilliwack BC starting January 2011. "I am very excited to open a new branch in my home town and to further support families, clients, and our Service Partners", states Vanessa Knox.

Independent Lifestyles is excited to announce that we have partnered with Gibsons Garden Inn to better assist in meeting the need for home health options while maintaining maximum health in a supportive environment. Residents will have more affordable access to personal care, transportation assistance, companionship and nursing services from Independent Lifestyles.

Independent Lifestyles is one of the successful bidders of the Request for Qualifications for contracted services and homemaker support for individuals with developmental disabilities and families. We are now positioned to receive contracts for future required services.

WorkSafe BC
Independent Lifestyles has been awarded a contract to provide Home Care Services for WorkSafe BC clients. We have been waiting 3 years for this call and I am super proud to support workers who have sustained injuries in the course of their employment.

- The CIW measures how Canadians are doing in: health, standard of living, quality of the environment, time use, education and skills, community vitality, civic engagement, and arts, culture & recreation. The CIW highlights how these important areas are interconnected.

Independent Lifestyles in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Business Retention and Expansion Society has received funding from BC Recreation and Parks Association in order to build active lifestyles. Active is Getting Out is a walking campaign that will encourage individuals and Baby Boomers who are providing care for senior citizens and others to get out of the house and to increase their level of daily activity. The campaign beginsin September during the "Fall into Fitness"with a survey. Possible walking opportunities and ideas on how to go beyond current levels of daily activity and to get more active will be constructed. A social network will be established as part of the Independent Lifestyles website, swag, posters,submissions to printed media and e-newsletters are just some of the media elements that make up the campaign. Age Friendly Community Planning Grant. Independent Lifestyles has been chosen to coordinate the project. A survey of seniors and near seniors in concert with a range of stakeholders will support a more concerted approach to address aging and age friendly planning in the community of Sechelt. Analysis and reporting on the outcomes will provide relevant data to inform policy and bylaw development by the District of Sechelt and project partners in the areas of: housing, transportation, health, community services and other aspects of daily living.

Workplace Training For Innovation Program. Independent Lifestyles has received funding from the Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development for employee training to improve productivity, work processes and to improve competitiveness. It is in our mandate to provide our staff with access to professional development opportunities. Vanessa Knox believes that staff will maintain a high level of professionalism by utilising these training opportunities while supporting job satisfaction and employee retention rates. Independent Lifestyles has been awared the contract to deliver Advanced Foot care Services for Good Samaritan Society. " I am very pleased that Independent Lifesyles has been chosen as the successful proponent for this RFP and that 140 residents living at Christenson Village will have access to Advanced Foot Care services. This is a milestone for us and I thank Good Samaritan Society for choosing Independent Lifestyles." Vanessa Knox [September 24, 2010]
