Survey for Caregivers

Active is Getting Out” is a walking campaign that will encourage individuals and Baby Boomers who are providing care for senior citizens and others, to get out of the house and to increase their level of daily activity.

“Local walking opportunities, ideas on how to get out of the house and information on the benefits of walking will support an improvement in our senior citizens’ quality of life”, says Vanessa Knox.  The campaign will is promoted though partner organisations, health care professionals, with small business, at community events and on community bulletin boards.

The survey is the first step towards helping senior citizens; particularly those receiving care in the home, to become more physically active with help from their primary caregiver.

From your input, results on local opportunities and ideas around how to help seniors to become more physically active, more often regardless of risk factors, multiple barriers and different states of readiness will be available on the Home Healthcare Social Network.  This information is hoping to encourage caregivers to get out of the house more often with seniors in their care.

You will also receive a complimentary Healthy Living 2010 wall calendar for your contribution.

The survey will take you approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete.  Your responses are confidential, and your privacy protected.  Please think about your own experience as a caregiver when answering these questions.

The Home Healthcare Social Network is to help the healthcare community, families, caregivers and seniors to exchange information, share ideas, or to arrange walks together after the campaign ends.

The grant for $2820.00 is one of several joint initiatives the BC Recreation and Parks Association and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon is implementing as part of its work with the BC Healthy Living Alliance, a coalition of organizations that came together with the mission to improve the health of British Columbians.    The BC Healthy Living Alliance is funded through the Provincial Government and ActNow BC.   For more information on these initiatives, visit www.PhysicalActivityStrategy.ca
